COMPARISON PERFORMANCE OF FLAT SURFACE DRYING OWEN WITH PERFORMANCES PERFORMANCE OF ABSORBER SURFACE

In this study, flat-plate and incarcerating surfaces absorbing-plate drying ovens are manufactured and also their performances are compared experimentally. In these experiment; red pepper are dried. In the aftermath of cleaning the red pepper’s scrapes and its seed houses. They are prepared to experiments as 100 g weight, 4-5 mm thickness and sliced lengthwise. The experiments are carried out at 2,5-3,0 and 3,5 m/s air velocities. Red pepper drying experiment are realized at average 50 °C drying room temperature and takes up 360 minutes.

As the result of experiments conducted at three different speeds while the average surface temperature of the absorber plate is 76.3 °C, the average temperature of the drying room is 55,3 °C. While the maximum average surface temperature of the absorber plate is 89,3 as a result of the experiments which have been done in the flat surfaced drying oven at three different speed, it is determined as 53,6 °C. While the difference between average absorber plate surface temperature of drying oven with incarcerating surface and average drying room temperature was 21°C, the difference between average absorber plate surface temperature of flat-plate drying room temperature was found to be 35,7°C. Although the absorber plate surface temperature of the flat plate drying oven is higher than the absorber plate surface temperature of the incarcerating surface drying room, it was observed that the drying room temperature was less than the incarcerating surface drying room.

From the data as a result of experiments the performance of incarcerating surface drying oven has been found to be better than the performance of the drying oven with flat surface.
